The Colquitt County Packers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They suffered a rough 61-40 defeat at the hands of Camden County. Colquitt County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Camden County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Colquitt County's loss came despite strong showings from Amira Walters- Smith and Nyleigha Knighton. Walters- Smith scored 22 points along with three steals, while Knighton scored eight points. Knighton continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Taylor Rietveld continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Camden County, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. Rietveld hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Akeelah Bryan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Colquitt County and nudges their season record down to 14-3. As for Camden County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.
Colquitt County will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Richmond Hill at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Richmond Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Colquitt County is ranked 28th). As for Camden County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lowndes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
