The Cedar Creek Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a rough 83-58 loss at the hands of Bridgeton. Cedar Creek was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bridgeton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
Jameel Purnell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bridgeton, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. Purnell hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyion Gray, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Cedar Creek dropped their record down to 3-21 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Bridgeton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-11.
Cedar Creek will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pleasantville at 7:00 p.m. As for Bridgeton, they will head out on the road to square off against Mainland Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bridgeton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Mainland Regional is ranked 39th).
