If the Lutheran Lions were feeling good off their 70-39 takedown of the Discovery Canyon Thunder last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lutheran fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 44-41. Lutheran was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Lutheran lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Berkley Schneider. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Schneider is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isla Koffman, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Lutheran struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lewis-Palmer racked up 12 assists.
Lewis-Palmer found their leader in underclassman Addison Kenley, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kenley has scored all season. Morgan Blakesley was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two steals and two blocks.
Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Lewis-Palmer, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran will square off against the Kadets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Air Academy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Lewis-Palmer, they will head out on the road to take on the Thunder at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Discovery Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday.
