On Saturday, the Kalaheo Mustangs faced the Sacred Hearts Academy Lancers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Kalaheo was the victim of a rough 62-39 loss at the hands of Sacred Hearts Academy. Kalaheo has not had much luck with Sacred Hearts Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Kalaheo saw an underclassman step up: Lizzy Kennedy scored 18 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Danser, who scored 4 points along with 7 rebounds.
Kalaheo has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Sacred Hearts Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kalaheo is on the road again on Friday and play against McKinley at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. McKinley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Sacred Hearts Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Damien at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
