On Sunday, it was a hard-fought game, but Harvest Prep had to settle for a 53-50 defeat against Johnstown-Monroe.
Despite the defeat, Harvest Prep saw an underclassman step up: Maliyah Lofton scored 22 points along with three steals. The matchup was Lofton's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Adjoa Acheampong was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Harvest Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Johnstown-Monroe, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvest Prep is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Bishop Rosecrans at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Bishop Rosecrans will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 637th, while Harvest Prep is ranked 316th). Johnstown-Monroe will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westerville Central at 4:45 p.m. on December 28th.
