The Ichabod Crane Riders will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Ballston Spa Scotties at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
On Thursday, Ichabod Crane made easy work of Cohoes and carried off an 8-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Riders.
Torri Cutler made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Cutler was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abbey Milazzo was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Charlotte Pelizza was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Ballston Spa got the win against Albany on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-2. The Scotties haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Like Ichabod Crane, Ballston Spa also got a great game from a two-way player: Katelyn Weatherwax. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Weatherwax was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ballston Spa got a massive performance out of Madelyn Perrone, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Livia Wiltsie, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Ichabod Crane's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. Ballston Spa has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record.
Ichabod Crane beat Ballston Spa 5-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Riders repeat their success, or do the Scotties have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
