Even though the Stall Warriors scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Fort Dorchester Patriots still came out on top. Fort Dorchester took their match against Stall 71-58. Given Fort Dorchester's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Stall is ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort Dorchester was led to victory by Jordan Wright and Cazz Williams. Wright scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals, while Williams scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Wright scored 15 or more points. Bryan Bright was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Despite the loss, Stall still got an impressive performance from Dave-yon Nixon, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Nixon hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Downtez Evans, who scored 15 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Fort Dorchester and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for Stall, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-21.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Dorchester will face off against West Ashley at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Ashley will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Fort Dorchester surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stall, they will head out on the road to take on Summerville at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Summerville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches.
