The Reed-Custer Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Dwight Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Reed-Custer will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Reed-Custer nor Clifton Central made it on the board until the fifth inning. Reed-Custer came out on top in a nail-biter against Clifton Central, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Reed-Custer has posted since March 19th.
Meanwhile, Dwight never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against Lowpoint-Washburn as they made off with an 18-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Taylor Heath made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dwight let Madi Ely and McKenna Woodcock run wild. Ely went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles, while Woodcock went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Woodcock has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Dorothy Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dwight kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.8.
Dwight now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Reed-Custer, their record now sits at 7-3.
Reed-Custer beat Dwight 9-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
