AAA District 9 recap October 8, 2013
Portland fell to Hendersonville 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Gallatin and Lebanon played the most contested game in AAA District 9 this week, with Gallatin eventually emerging with a 13-12 victory. Eric Debow ran for 75 yards during the win.
Dorian Carter provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Beech bested Mount Juliet.
Ti'ron Dalton made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Green Wave topped the Blue Devils. The 6-foot-0 senior pulled down 2 interceptions and recorded 1 fumble.
Carter was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 184 yards on 33 carries as the Buccaneers bested Lebanon. Teammate Parker Henry added to the ground attack by rushing for 56 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Mark Williams' team's Claly Carnes and Redding have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Carnes has thrown for 780 yards this season, while Redding has 16 catches for 250 yards. Carter from Beech leads the league in rushing with 1,316 yards.
Two highly praised recruits will be in the spotlight when Wilson Central and David Edmonds' team meet this week. The Wildcats features well-regarded sophomore Gabe Angel while the Buccaneers has Jalen Hurd, a sought after senior.
A big matchup in AAA District 9 this week will be when Wilson Central takes on Beech. At the moment, Brad Dedman's team is in fifth, while the Buccaneers are in second.
Station Camp led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on the Wildcats.
