The McDonald Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Mineral Ridge, falling 71-22. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McDonald in their matchups with Mineral Ridge: they've now lost four in a row.
Leading Mineral Ridge to victory were Ava Hulett and Sullivan Sandy. Hulett scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Sandy scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sandy has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gianna Gilbert, who scored nine points along with five assists and two steals.
McDonald has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Mineral Ridge, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
McDonald will head out on the road to square off against McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. McKinley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Mineral Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mogadore at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
