Mathews has gone 7-2 against Chalker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Chalker will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Mathews extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over Bristol. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chalker). They put the hurt on Lordstown with a sharp 20-2 win on Monday. The Wildcats have beaten the Red Devils the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Red Devils has come to flipping the script.
Zach Pack made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Pack was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Chalker got a massive performance out of Mason Vondrasek, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Vondrasek a new career-high. Bobby Prowitt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Chalker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mathews' victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Chalker, their win bumped their record up to 4-7-1.
Mathews came up short against Chalker when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 12-8. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
