The Minnewaska Area Lakers will square off against the New London-Spicer Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Minnewaska Area knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully New London-Spicer likes a good challenge.
Minnewaska Area's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Melrose hitters got past them. The Lakers fell just short of the Dutchmen by a score of 15-13 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (12), the Lakers still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, New London-Spicer entered their tilt with Glencoe-Silver Lake on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Panthers since April 16, 2019.
Brayden Skindelien made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-6 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Logan Swenson looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
Back at the plate, Nolan Johnson was excellent, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Garret White was another key player, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
New London-Spicer's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Minnewaska Area, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Minnewaska Area couldn't quite get it done against New London-Spicer when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Will the Lakers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
