Arvada West is 8-2 against Bear Creek since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Arvada West Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bear Creek Bears at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully Arvada West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
After a string of three wins, Arvada West's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valor Christian. While losing is never fun, Arvada West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Valor Christian is ranked third).
Despite the loss, Arvada West got a solid performance out of Jordan Stremel, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Hadzic, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Bear Creek's strategy against Columbine on Tuesday. Bear Creek walked away with a 53-40 win over Columbine. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bear Creek.
Arvada West's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Bear Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
Arvada West won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Bear Creek 44-43. Will Arvada West repeat their success, or does Bear Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
