Basketball Recap: Kolby Matthews Key Part of a Team Effort in Lions Win

On Tuesday, the Lighthouse Christian Lions beat Highland Rim Academy 66-57. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Lighthouse Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolby Matthews led the charge by going 9 of 21 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Matthews has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Allan Niles, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 19 points and four steals.

Lighthouse Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Highland Rim Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Lighthouse Christian will take on Christian Community at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lighthouse Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Highland Rim Academy, they will face off against Clarksville Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
