While the Wabash Apaches couldn't quite beat the Manchester Squires on Saturday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 47-point loss they were dealt last Wednesday. Wabash fell just short of Manchester by a score of 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Wabash's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryleigh Boggs, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Kierra Wilson who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiana Jones, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Manchester's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brookelynn Buzzard, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Buzzard hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Hadley West was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Wabash and nudges their season record down to 9-10. As for Manchester, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Wabash will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Lewis Cass at 7:30 p.m. As for Manchester, they will head out on the road to challenge Rochester at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Rochester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Wednesday.
