Scotland is 9-1 against Richmond since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots will welcome the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Scotland will be looking to extend their current 20-game winning streak.
Scotland lost a heartbreaker the last time they played East Columbus, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Fighting Scots never let the Gators get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by nine runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Avery Stutts's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 21 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Khloe Radford, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Dawson Blue, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Richmond had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Pinecrest by a score of 8-4 on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Richmond let Hayden Robinson and Jakayla Steele run wild. Robinson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Steele got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Scotland pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. As for Richmond, their victory bumped their record up to 9-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Scotland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Scotland took their win against Richmond when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Fighting Scots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
