Pioneer will be up against a hot Veterans Memorial team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Chargers breezed past Pharr-San Juan-Alamo to the tune of 48-7 on Friday. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Bears are ranked 774th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belmontes' longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Calvin Trevillion was another major influence, as he rushed for 152 yards and ran in a TD.

Everything went Veterans Memorial's way against Pioneer in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Veterans Memorial made off with a 45-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
