Basketball Recap: Slidell's Loss Ends 13-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Slidell fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Belle Chasse on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Belle Chasse Cardinals by a score of 71-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (66), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kolby Rachel, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points and six steals. Rachel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Faciane, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Slidell's defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3. As for Belle Chasse, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Slidell Tigers challenge the French Settlement Lions at 6:20 p.m. on Friday. As for Belle Chasse, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Landry at 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
