Even though the Mitchell Mustangs scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors still came out on top. Seven Rivers Christian enjoyed a cozy 71-57 victory over Mitchell. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Seven Rivers Christian.
Jurisah Bailey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds. Bailey is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalise De beer, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Mitchell's loss came despite strong showings from Carys Thuma and Kaylana Little. Thuma scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Little scored eight points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thuma has scored all season. Moriah Hillmon was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seven Rivers Christian only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Seven Rivers Christian's win was their 12th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.5 points. As for Mitchell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.
Seven Rivers Christian will face off against Patel at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Hopefully Patel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Wednesday. Mitchell won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hernando at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th.
