Vanden extended their postseason success on Saturday against Oakdale. They took down the Oakdale Mustangs 49-35. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
A big part of Vanden's win came down to the chemistry between Kalani Mcleod and his top target Logan Bailey. Mcleod threw for 484 yards and six touchdowns while completing 81.5% of his passes while Bailey picked up 258 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Bailey really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards. Chris Clark was another key player, picking up 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Vanden didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Caleb Jones, Eamon Lacy, and Jamarion Grace picked up one apiece.
Despite the loss, Oakdale still got an impressive performance from Wes Burford, who rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Burford is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 143 every time he's taken the field this season.
Vanden's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Oakdale, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Vanden wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 28-14 win against Pleasant Valley on the 7th. Oakdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
