The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The matchup between Wauneta-Palisade and Perkins County wasn't particularly close, with Wauneta-Palisade falling 52-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Wauneta-Palisade of the 49-44 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Wauneta-Palisade lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Peyton Cox, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. That was a full 35.1% of Wauneta-Palisade's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cheyenne Parrish was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Wauneta-Palisade now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Perkins County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Wauneta-Palisade will head out on the road to challenge Paxton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perkins County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
