Baseball Recap: Hersey Has No Trouble Against Wheeling

Hersey barely beat Wheeling the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Huskies blew past the Wildcats 12-2 on Monday. Considering the Huskies have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lincoln Causero looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hersey got a big performance out of Chuck Meister, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Garcia, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Hersey is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Wheeling, their loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-17.

Hersey will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
