While the Sparta Spartans couldn't quite beat the La Crosse Logan Rangers on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 22-point loss they were dealt last Tuesday. Sparta fell just short of La Crosse Logan by a score of 59-56. Sparta has not had much luck with La Crosse Logan recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evelyn Tripp, who scored 15 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elexa Jones, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sparta has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for La Crosse Logan, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Onalaska at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. La Crosse Logan on the road again on Tuesday and play against Aquinas at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th.
