Varina is a perfect 10-0 against Armstrong since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Varina has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Varina is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past John Marshall 23-13 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Rylee Geer made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Geer was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Samiah Green and Courtney Collier did most of the damage at the plate: Green got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Collier got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Green has posted since back in March. Mikenzie Jones was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Varina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Armstrong was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Highland Springs, falling 20-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Varina's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Armstrong, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Varina took their victory against Armstrong in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 19-5 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
