The Douglas Tigers will be playing at home against the Carson Senators at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Douglas faced Damonte Ranch in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Douglas fell just short of Damonte Ranch by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Douglas has suffered since December 29, 2023.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aleeah Weaver, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zora Simpson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Carson won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were beaten by Bishop Manogue 88-49. While losing is never fun, Carson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Bishop Manogue is ranked third).
Douglas' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8. As for Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.
Everything came up roses for Douglas against Carson when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 57-16 victory. Does Douglas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
