San Juan has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The San Juan Broncos and the Grand County Red Devils will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
San Juan fought the good fight in their overtime match against Duchesne on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 69-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Anthony Done put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points along with six assists and five steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Tripp Palmer was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Grand County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of North Summit by a score of 72-70. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lane Berry, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace York, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
San Juan has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Grand County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a blowout: San Juan hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 59.5 points per game. It's a different story for Grand County, though, as they've been averaging only 68.2 points per game. The only thing between San Juan and another offensive beatdown is Grand County. Will they be able to keep them contained?
San Juan was able to grind out a solid win over Grand County when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 88-80. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Juan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
