Softball Recap: Cousino's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Cousino entered their tilt with Roseville on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 18-0 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 12 runs or more this season.

Payton Hewitt and Davi Wieczorek made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Hewitt tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wieczorek tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hewitt has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hewitt went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Wieczorek went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Wieczorek a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cousino got a massive performance out of Carly Greathouse, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Greathouse a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn McMullen, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Cousino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Cousino now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Roseville, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cousino will venture away from home to challenge Brandon at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots are facing the Blackhawks at the right time seeing as the Blackhawks are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Roseville, they will head out on the road to square off against Port Huron at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
