Oceanside is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Valley Center is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Oceanside Pirates will take on the Valley Center Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oceanside put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 48-6 win over Vista at home. With Oceanside ahead 41-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Oceanside found their leader in underclassman Andrew Miller, who threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgie Nua, who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, Valley Center got the win against Westview on Friday by a conclusive 28-7. 28 seems to be a good number for Valley Center as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Valley Center can attribute much of their success to Jhett Puentes-Stehly, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Oceanside is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Valley Center, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
