Floyd Central has gone a perfect 10-0 against Columbus East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Highlanders will be playing at home against the Olympians at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Columbus East will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Floyd Central extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Highlanders' pitchers stepped up to hand North Harrison a 16-0 shutout. The Highlanders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Adeline Shultz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Elise Coleman and Addy Ware did most of the damage at the plate: Coleman went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Ware scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Coleman has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Breleigh Lockhart, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Floyd Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Harrison only posted a batting average of .158.
Meanwhile, Columbus East gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against Brownstown Central by a score of 12-8.
Columbus East let Natasha Armstrong and Mackenzie Hampton run wild. Armstrong scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Hampton went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Fish Baleigh was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Floyd Central's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus East, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went Floyd Central's way against Columbus East when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Floyd Central made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Olympians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
