After flying high against the Thomasville Bulldogs last Tuesday, the Dougherty Trojans came back down to earth. Dougherty was outmatched by Carver on the road and fell 87-57. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dougherty in their matchups with Carver: they've now lost nine in a row.
Dougherty lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Teaylia Hawkins, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jatiana Chambers, who scored 12 points along with seven assists.
Carver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jazmin Thornton, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Thornton hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Aubri Wilkins was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with four steals.
Dougherty's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Carver, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Dougherty does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Carver also has no future games currently scheduled.
