Basketball Recap: Mennatullah Ibrahim Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

Triangle Math & Science won the last time they faced Woods Charter and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Triangle Math & Science Tigers enjoyed a cozy 32-18 win over the Woods Charter Wolves.

Triangle Math & Science's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mennatullah Ibrahim, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Ibrahim continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Amritha Tatineni was another key player, putting up six points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Triangle Math & Science smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Valentina Podolyanskaya, who posted four points and four steals. Podolyanskaya has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. Anna Robards also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Triangle Math & Science is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Woods Charter, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Triangle Math & Science will take on Ascend Leadership at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Triangle Math & Science is facing Ascend Leadership at the right time seeing as Ascend Leadership is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Woods Charter, they will challenge Clover Garden School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
