The Coventry Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Ellington Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Coventry beats Ellington with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand Lyman Memorial a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on four straight.

Lyman Memorial's batters probably weren't too happy with Kevin Johnson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up a single walk). Johnson also allowed no hits, which is notable because Coventry is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 5-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Jake Roberts was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Matteo Albano, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Coventry hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ellington came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 win.
Tyler Dumond was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Thomas, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Ellington pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Coventry, their record now sits at 10-6.
Everything went Coventry's way against Ellington when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Coventry made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
