The result was an unpleasant reminder to Weeki Wachee of the 69-35 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2021.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joelys Rodriguez, who scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Clark, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Weeki Wachee has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for The Villages Charter, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will take on Springstead at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Springstead will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. The Villages Charter won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mount Dora Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Mount Dora Christian Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
