After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Delta, the Summit Tigers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They blew past Coal Ridge 56-27 on the road. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Summit considering their 24-point performance the contest before.
Leading Summit to victory were Doussouba Sylla and Kenya Rodriguez. Sylla scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Rodriguez dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Sylla hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kayla Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Summit is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Coal Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Basalt at 11:30 a.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Coal Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Moffat County at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Moffat County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Coal Ridge surely won't give up without a fight.
