The Mohave Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 61-17 loss at the hands of Coconino. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mohave has scored all season.
Mohave lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathaniel Villareal, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Devon Cook, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mohave struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Coconino racked up 13 assists.
Coconino found their leader in underclassman Hashke Nelson, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Micheal Chukwujigha was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Mohave's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Coconino, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mohave will take on Lee Williams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Coconino, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Flagstaff at 7:00 p.m.
