Vail Christian is on a five-game streak of home losses, Clear Creek a 12-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Vail Christian Saints will take on the Clear Creek Golddiggers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vail Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Saturday, Vail Christian took a serious blow against West Grand, falling 70-11. Vail Christian has not had much luck with West Grand recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-19, which was the final score in Clear Creek's tilt against Gilpin County on Saturday. Clear Creek was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-8.
Despite their loss, Clear Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elizabeth Rooney, who scored eight points along with four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerah Fulton, who scored no points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
Vail Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Clear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Vail Christian against Clear Creek in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 48-6 win. Will Vail Christian repeat their success, or does Clear Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
