The East Mecklenburg Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Porter Ridge 66-22. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Mecklenburg in their matchups with Porter Ridge: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, East Mecklenburg still got an impressive performance from Ava Stallings, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Mecklenburg were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Porter Ridge only pulled down 18.
Porter Ridge found their leader in underclassman Ashanti Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least 25% of Porter Ridge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Malcolm, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
East Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Porter Ridge, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg is on the road again on Friday and play against Sun Valley at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. As for Porter Ridge, they will face off against Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lincoln Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
