Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division III recap Oct. 3, 2012
Mulvane extended the longest winning streak in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division III this week by beating Rose Hill, 20-13. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Wildcats.
McPherson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Marcus Houghton threw for 364 and four touchdowns and Kyler Kinnamon had 191 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Obannon chipped in 121 yards. Keaton Sorenson helped McPherson's passing attack out by catching two balls for 71 yards.
Mulvane's Ty Redington and Alex Evans have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Redington has thrown for 920 yards this season, while Evans, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 29 catches for 586 yards. Obannon from the Bullpups leads the league in rushing with 467 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Mulvane takes on second place McPherson. Last week, David Fennewald's team defeated the Rockets, while McPherson topped Winfield.
There should be lots of points scored when the Wildcats and Tom Young's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Mulvane comes in having scored 178 this season, while the Bullpups have scored 193. The Wildcats scored 20 points last week as they defeated Rose Hill.
McPherson made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,965 from 2,240. The improvement was the result of 47-8 victory over the Vikings last week.
