Basketball Recap: Quay Jackson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Red Level

There's no place like home for McKenzie, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Red Level Tigers 77-53 on Thursday. Given McKenzie's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Red Level is ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McKenzie's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quay Jackson, who went 10 for 14 en route to 23 points along with six assists and six boards. That's the most points Jackson has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jay Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds.

McKenzie is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Red Level, their loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-19.

When McKenzie and Red Level next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. McKenzie will try to stop Brantley's three-game winning streak when the meet at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. McKenzie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Red Level will square off against Georgiana and their six-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
