Saint James is a perfect 4-0 against Mercersburg Academy since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Saints will head out to take on the Storm at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Saint James has five straight victories, Mercersburg Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lily Schlotterbeck ?26 was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tenley Mullendore ?27, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Everett Sechler ?26 was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Saint James kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mercersburg Academy lost 13-3 to Lawrenceville School on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Storm have lost by exactly ten runs.
Adi Rinker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Saint James' victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mercersburg Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Mercersburg Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Saint James has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Mercersburg Academy, though, as they've been averaging 12.1 hits. Given Saint James' sizable advantage in that area, the Storm will need to find a way to close that gap.
Saint James took their victory against Mercersburg Academy in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
