Mitchell County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Akiria Sessions, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, and Adrianna Burkes who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Mitchell County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Seminole County racked up 19 assists.
Meanwhile, Pelham scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Mitchell County with a sharp 63-38 victory. Pelham has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season.
Pelham relied on the efforts of Truth Wimberly, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists, and Sariyah Chester, who scored 31 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Chester has scored at least a third of Pelham's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Crump, who scored ten points.
Mitchell County bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Pelham, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Saturday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Mitchell County have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Pelham, though, as they've been averaging only 19.2 rebounds per game. Given Mitchell County's sizeable advantage in that area, Pelham will need to find a way to close that gap.
