The West Middlesex Big Reds will venture away from home to challenge the Allegheny-Clarion Valley Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. West Middlesex is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, West Middlesex got the win against Reynolds by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Big Reds, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Harper Nickel and Kaylee Long made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Nickel tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Long didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Nickel has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Nickel went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Long went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Nickel has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lila Kimmel, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Nevaeh Lapcevich was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
West Middlesex kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Allegheny-Clarion Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They skirted past Reynolds 8-6.
Kya Wetzel was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Hayden, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
West Middlesex's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Allegheny-Clarion Valley, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
