III Section IV recap October 22, 2013
Prescott extended the longest winning streak in III Section IV this week by beating Bradshaw Mountain, 49-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Prescott took down the Bears 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kaine Bayze threw for 10 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 139 yards in the win.
Cristo Tabaras was a passing and rushing force as Coconino fell to Campo Verde. He completed 11 passes for 154 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 2 yards. Tabaras' key target this week was Demonta Brain, who caught 3 passes for 100 yards.
Jared Tiefenthaler was a key player and the best on defense this week as Cody Collett's team topped Bradshaw Mountain. The 6-foot-1 senior forced 1 fumble and grabbed 3 sacks.
Micah Nevarez put up the best numbers in passing as Mingus bested Kingman. He finished with 5 completions for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nevarez's favorite target this week was Tanner Caron, who caught 2 passes for 39 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Nick Martenson. The Bradshaw Mountain star has 25 catches for 487 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Mohave takes on Jared Woodruff's team. The Thunderbirds are in sixth place, while the Bears are in second place.
The Badgers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,237 from 3,247. The advance stemmed from a 49-7 victory over Bradshaw Mountain last week.
