The Chantilly Chargers''s three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 37-14 margin over Centreville. This was payback for Chantilly, who suffered a 57-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Avery Chow continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 325 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Chow was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Centreville to a paltry 137 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Chantilly's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Chase Smoot and his two sacks.
Jourdan Simpson and Will Shields, Centreville certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Simpson picked up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Shields threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns.
Chantilly's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Centreville, they have fallen quite a ways from their 10-3 record last season and are now at 2-6.
Chantilly will head out on the road to face off against Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chantilly in Virginia (Westfield is ranked 41st, while Chantilly is ranked 125th). As for Centreville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Lakes at 7:00 p.m. South Lakes will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
