Choctawhatchee got themselves on the board against Fort Walton Beach on Friday, but Fort Walton Beach never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Vikings. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Jack Marracco was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaron Rowell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Choctawhatchee: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gant Folendore, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Choctawhatchee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive games.

Choctawhatchee has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Fort Walton Beach's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Choctawhatchee will challenge West Florida at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Florida's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Choctawhatchee's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fort Walton Beach, they will square off against Gulf Breeze at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gulf Breeze will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Fort Walton Beach surely won't give up without a fight.
