There's no place like home for the St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 71-70 win over Chapelgate Christian Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Chapelgate Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Julian Sabbat, who scored 27 points along with three blocks. Sabbat is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Milledge, who scored 14 points.
St. John's Catholic Prep pushed their record up to 3-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John's Catholic Prep will face off against Concordia Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Concordia Prep is ranked 172nd, while St. John's Catholic Prep is ranked 149th). As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Gerstell Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gerstell Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
