Big 8 recap October 8, 2013
Cassville moved up to 89 from 115 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Big 8. The Wildcats were able to move up by beating Monett 27-0.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Seneca beat Mt. Vernon 42-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Indians.
Dustin Satterlee threw for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 18-27 with 0 interceptions.
Braxton Graham was a force in the backfield as Seneca bested the Mountaineers.
Chris Whelan made the biggest impact on defense this week as Carl Junction topped Lamar. The 6-foot-1 senior nabbed 1 interception.
Graham was the best running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 277 yards as Dan Scheible's team topped the Tigers.
Thanks to the talents of Payton Rawlins and Graham, the Indians have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Rawlins is tops in the league in passing with 1,259 yards, while Graham has rushed for 1,014 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Carl Junction's Magee, with 544 yards on 36 catches.
The top two teams in Big 8 will face off this week when first place Monett takes on second place Lamar.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Cubs take on Lamar. Monett has allowed 87 points this season, while Scott Bailey's team has given up 85.
There should be lots of points scored when Seneca and Doug Buckmaster's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Indians comes in having scored 220 this season, while the Bulldogs have scored 299. Seneca scored 42 points last week as it defeated Mt. Vernon.
Carl Junction and the Tigers played the closest game in the league this week, with Carl Junction eventually emerging with a 50-46 victory. Satterlee ran for 93 yards in the win.
