Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Heritage Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Mohave Accelerated on Saturday. The Heroes were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Patriots. With that victory, the Heroes brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Isaias Ruiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Paul (PJ) Soltero was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Jared Wittman was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Heritage Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 7-9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Mohave Accelerated, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Coming up, Heritage Academy will take on Arizona Lutheran Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Heroes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Coyotes have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. Mohave Accelerated does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
