Even though the Holcomb Longhorns have not done well against the Hugoton Eagles recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Holcomb blew past the Eagles 51-25. Given Holcomb's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Eagles are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jera Kruleski continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Jones, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Holcomb has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Hugoton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9-1.
Holcomb will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Goodland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Hugoton, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Colby is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
