Franklin extended the longest winning streak in Delta Valley this week by beating Davis, 72-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Wildcats.
The Blue Devils moved up to 395 from 508 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Davis climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Franklin 72-7.
Michael Johnson's team's dynamic duo of Robert Sanders and Damion Sanders proved tough for Steve Smyte's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sanders threw for 38 yards and one touchdown and Sanders had 59 yards receiving. Steven Rogers helped Franklin's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.
C.J. Ramseur was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 197 yards as Monterey Trail topped the Blue Devils. Teammate Trey Nahhas added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.
John Harris made the biggest impact on defense this week as Laguna Creek lost to the Mustangs. The 6-foot-2 senior recorded one fumble.
6-foot-0 quarterback Isaiah Rios of Grant is the league leader in passing yards this season with 856. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Elk Grove's Robert Frazier has rushed for 1097 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Denzel Johnson. The Laguna Creek star has 21 catches for 460 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Franklin takes on second place Elk Grove. Franklin defeated Davis last week, while the Thundering Herd beat the Pacers.
There should be lots of points scored when Elk Grove and the Wildcats face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Chris Nixon's team comes in having scored 277 this season, while Franklin has scored 259. The Thundering Herd scored 24 points last week as they bested Grant.
The Wildcats took down the Blue Devils 72-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Christian Fonbuena ran for 123 yards and caught one passes for 17 yards in the win.
